Job Description

This role is for a Primary Teaching Ad-Hoc Supply professional who supports a range of primary school classes on a temporary basis. The individual delivers high-quality teaching aligned with the national curriculum, ensuring pupils make progress and remain engaged. The position demands adaptability to different classroom environments and the ability to manage pupils with diverse needs effectively.


Job Duties

* Plan and deliver engaging lessons in accordance with the national curriculum for primary education.
* Provide effective classroom management to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Assess pupil progress and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning needs.
* Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities and backgrounds.
* Maintain accurate records of attendance, behaviour, and pupil achievements.
* Communicate clearly with school staff and leadership regarding pupil progress and classroom activities.
* Support the implementation of school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times.
* Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions as required.


Required Qualifications

* Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent qualification.
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is preferred but not essential.


Education

* Degree-level qualification in Education or a related subject.
* Relevant teacher training completed (PGCE).


Experience

* Experience teaching primary school pupils across various key stages.
* Demonstrable ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively.
* Previous supply teaching experience is advantageous but not mandatory.


Knowledge and Skills

* Strong knowledge of the national curriculum for primary education.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with pupils and staff.
* Proficient in planning and delivering differentiated lessons.
* Ability to assess and monitor pupil progress accurately.
* Good organisational skills and the ability to adapt quickly to different school environments.
* Understanding of safeguarding requirements and child protection policies.


Preferred Qualifications

* Additional training or qualifications in special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
* Experience using educational technology and digital teaching resources.
* First aid qualification.


Working Conditions

* Temporary, variable placements in primary schools throughout Surrey and the wider South East region.
* Full-time hours with flexibility to cover short notice assignments.
* Work within a classroom setting, often requiring standing for extended periods.
* Interaction with pupils aged 4 to 11 years in diverse school environments.
* Occasional participation in after-school activities or meetings as required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
