Mechanic (Mobile Crane) - Lifting Equipment Workshop Engineer
About The Role
Based in Leyland (Preston) on a day-to-day basis, you will be required to maintain, inspect, and repair all equipment within our fleet, including our in-house mobile crane. Your duties will include identifying and capturing equipment damage, carrying out statutory inspections, and keeping accurate and comprehensive service and maintenance records.
Working alongside colleagues, you will be a great team player and take pride in your workplace and working environment, making sure that high standards are maintained whilst complying with company procedures and processes. Communicating effectively, you will ensure that your Line Manager and Customers are kept informed as and when required.
Your role will cover a broad range of workshop and crane engineering responsibilities, including:
* Repair of various types of lifting equipment
* Inspection and testing of lifting equipment in accordance with LOLER regulations
* Servicing, repairs, and breakdown maintenance of cranes to uphold high standards of safety and performance
* Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults
* Maintaining accurate service and inspection records, and providing technical advice to minimise downtime
* Collaborating with the Line Manager to schedule repairs and procure necessary materials
* High standards of housekeeping within the workplace, ensuring a safe working environment
* Set hours with overtime provided if needed

* Previous experience maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing faults with heavy machinery (essential)
* Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues
* Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to maintenance tasks
* Able to work as part of a team, supporting colleagues
* Flexible and self-motivated, with a willingness to embrace new training opportunities
* Great communication skills – both verbal and written
