Overview

This is a site-based role on the SSEN Transmission project at Kintore 132kV GIS Substation. The base location is on site at Kintore, with preference for the Aberdeen area. The role requires five days on site per week.

Salary: £42,600 - £64,000 depending on experience + car / cash allowance + performance-related bonus + other benefits.

The role

SSEN Transmission has an opportunity for a Site Construction Manager experienced in the principles of construction and commissioning of transmission substations. An electrical bias is preferred but not essential. The Site Construction Manager will manage the ongoing development and construction of the Kintore 132kV GIS Substation, ensuring adherence to health, safety, environmental and quality standards. Training opportunities are available for suitable candidates transferring from other industries. The role would suit experienced site supervisors seeking career advancement.


You will

* Act as a safety leader on site and champion a positive safety culture.
* Represent the SSEN Transmission business on-site as the key point of contact for the project, interacting with the appointed contractor(s), Operations team and other stakeholders to ensure delivery to the project programme with appropriate resources and in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
* Develop effective relationships with contractors, suppliers and the community, acting as a leader on site and promoting collaborative safety culture.
* Ensure the project is executed in accordance with relevant requirements, including statutory and legal obligations, health & safety, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, and quality & technical compliance (e.g., ITPs).
* Monitor and record progress of key deliverables (earthworks, civils construction, electrical installation and commissioning), measure against KPIs, support contractor payment assessments, and manage NEC Contracts. Ensure compliance with planning consents and SHE legislation, and ensure detailed weekly reporting from the contractor as part of the project deliverables.


You have

* Suitable experience in site management of complex construction/utilities/electrical installation projects, with effective leadership and the ability to manage conflicting demands.
* Strong engineering and construction knowledge with site safety management and CDM Regulations experience.
* Working knowledge of NEC contracts or equivalent, monitoring progress against project plans and applying quality management, inspection and test plans (including defect rectification).
* Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the project internally and externally as required.
* Ability to maintain project documentation including weekly progress reports and daily site diaries, with familiarity with common software (Microsoft Office, etc.).
* A full current driving licence is required due to travel to and on site.
