Job Summary The Quality Laboratory Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations relating to quality control. This role ensures all testing is performed in accordance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards. Duties & Responsibilities Lead a team of Microbiologists / Quality Analysts and Quality Inspectors and undertake all line manager responsibilities, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture, to deliver against masterplan. Maintain a safe working environment by upholding health and safety protocols and creating a safety culture. Supervise personnel, including assigning tasks, reviewing results, and ensuring compliance with protocols. Coordinate and monitor daily testing activities for raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GMP, ISO, FDA, EPA) and company quality standards. Maintain and review laboratory documentation including test records, SOPs, and deviation reports. Lead investigations of out-of-specification (OOS) and out-of-trend (OOT) results. Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in laboratory operations, efficiency, and quality. Train and mentor laboratory staff on analytical techniques, safety procedures, and quality standards. Oversee inventory of laboratory supplies and ensure timely procurement. Collaborate with R&D teams to develop new products and improve existing formulations. Limited travel for business needs. Essential Qualifications Level 6 Diploma (level 6 NVQ ordinary degree, degree with honours, degree apprenticeship). 3 years of experience in a quality control or analytical laboratory environment, with at least 1 years in a leadership role. Understanding of regulatory standards such as GMP, ISO 9001, or GLP. Strong knowledge of laboratory testing methods and instrumentation. Leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Driving License. Desirable Qualifications 5 years of experience in a quality control or analytical laboratory environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies. Location & Working pattern Keele (including Office / Trentham) – Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm / 9am-5pm What do we offer?
