Overview
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is pleased to offer a Principal Social Work position within Social Care Services. We are looking for a Principal Social Worker to join the Rhondda Cynon Taf East Learning Disability Team. The team works with adults with a learning disability in the West of the borough. The worker will be joining an experienced and supportive team. All our practitioners have the chance to influence the development of our work and are supported by a strong, experienced management team both at strategic and operational levels. We recognise that social work is professionally and personally challenging and demands considerable levels of skill, commitment, and enthusiasm. We offer a dedicated in-house Learning and Development Centre which actively supports practitioners at each level to maintain their skills and Continuous Professional Development. Our Social Care Departments have benefitted from comprehensive and significant investment in recent years, and we have responded to this by strengthening preventative services which aims to add capacity to the front line.
Responsibilities
* Manage a defined caseload while building and maintaining links with partner agencies.
* Provide supervision and mentoring of social workers and care and support practitioners within the team, alongside the team manager.
* Demonstrate a sound understanding of the practice implications of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act and other relevant legislation, including working with individuals with a learning disability and their families and carers.
* Assess risks in a balanced way that promotes coproduction, independence, and choice.
* Support professional development and contribute to the ongoing learning culture within the team.
Qualifications
* Professionally recognised Social Work qualification.
* Must be registered and maintain registration as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales on appointment.
* Experience or interest in working with individuals with a learning disability and their families and carers is desirable.
