Prospero Teaching are looking for a committed and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join our specialist team supporting pupils with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties, often alongside significant medical need at a primary SEND School in Oldbury.
This role is about much more than supporting lessons. It's about helping pupils who experience the world in a completely different way - and making that world more accessible, more meaningful, and more joyful for them.
Who this role is for:
You've worked in a special school setting before, and you know the challenges - and the deeply rewarding moments - that come with this environment.
You're calm, resilient, and quick to adapt. You're not fazed by unpredictability, personal care, or complex behaviours - because you understand the reasons behind them.
You have a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning (or equivalent), and more importantly, the heart and head to support pupils with needs that go far beyond the classroom.
You'll be doing things like:
Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis with highly individualised learning and care plans
Using communication systems like PECS, Makaton, or AAC (or willing to learn)
Working closely with teaching staff, therapists, and medical teams
Providing care routines including feeding, toileting, and medical support (training provided)We offer:
A strong, supportive team who genuinely care - about the pupils and each other
A setting where no two days look the same - and the work really matters
A culture of respect, humour, and high expectations for every learner
