Pertemps are working alongside Essex County Council & South Essex University to find a replacement Supporter/Coach/Mentor to work alongside a male university student as he completes his final academic term.
This roll is designed around a supportive and adaptive function of mentoring. Our exisiting member of support will be moving on within the next month. He has provided the pupil with complete support, emotional and academic guidance over the last two university terms, interacting with family, members of university faculty, and other students.
We are looking for someone who has an understanding of 1 to 1 support, is not afraid to utilise patience and a keen academic mindset (with knowledge on Autism, Complex Needs, Selective Mutism, and Anxiety) to guide the pupil through the rest of the academic term (and likely into September 2024 also).
This is specifically a THREE DAY position, Monday to Wednesday.
You will initially spend a session getting to know the pupil and his immediate family, understanding a bit more about his personal interests, the work he does at university, and the schedule that had been created for him.
A typical day will have you arrive at the University before lectures to meet with the young man - enjoy a coffee or talk about the plan for the day, catch up about the weekend etc. Then support him throughout the university day, helping him interact with other students, being effective with your time to get work do...
