Sous Chef – Bristol
We are looking for a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at this prestigious contract based in the heart of Bristol. The Sous Chef will support the Head Chef in delivering exceptional food while ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. Passion for food quality and presentation, maintaining high standards, and ensuring that all dishes are prepared to perfection are essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the Head Chef in menu creation, food preparation and overall kitchen management.
* Lead, train and mentor kitchen staff ensuring high standards and cleanliness.
* Maintain quality and consistency of every dish to venue standards.
* Manage stock – ordering, rotation, and inventory control to minimise waste.
* Adhere to health, safety and hygiene regulations.
* Control food costs in partnership with the Head Chef.
* Adapt dishes to meet client and customer expectations including special dietary requirements.
* Take charge of the kitchen during the Head Chef’s absence.
Required Skills
* Proven experience in high‑quality catering, preferably in a similar venue.
* Strong leadership and team motivation skills.
* Deep understanding of food hygiene and safety standards.
* Excellent collaboration with front‑of‑house and kitchen teams.
* Sharp organisational abilities to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
* Adaptability to assist in all kitchen areas and respond to changing demands.
