Job Description:
CONSULTANT IN LUNG CANCER, PLEURAL DISEASE AND RESPIRATORY MEDICINE
Applications are invited for the Respiratory Department at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The appointment can be full-time or part-time, and applications from those interested in job sharing are welcome.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Pleural, Lung Cancer, and Interventional Bronchoscopy team at OUH. The Oxford Pleural Unit is renowned internationally, leading in research, training, and clinical innovation. It is one of the most active units in the UK, performing numerous pleural biopsies and maintaining strong links to clinical trials and research units. The lung cancer team is forward-thinking, implementing the nationally recognized REDS cancer pathway at the Community Diagnostic Centre. The unit collaborates closely with Thoracic Surgical colleagues to perform procedures such as ultrasound-guided techniques, thoracoscopy, rigid bronchoscopy, stenting, endobronchial valves, and navigational bronchoscopy.
OUH is involved in innovative pathways including AI and nodule follow-up, and has recently launched a Targeted Lung Health Check Programme.
This replacement position primarily focuses on pleural sub-specialty work, contributing to clinical procedures, research, quality improvement, service development, and education. The role also involves collaboration with the lung cancer team and the Respiratory Early Diagnostic Service. Candidates will be encouraged to participate in the substantial research activities at the University of Oxford.
