JJ?Care?Homes?Ltd is opening a brand-new, purpose-built 2-bedroom childrens home in Wolverhampton to support children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) aged 8-17. The home is scheduled to launch in February 2026 and will provide an intimate, nurturing, and structured environment tailored to each child’s needs. The successful candidate will lead the set-up and ongoing management of the home, from achieving Ofsted registration to recruiting a dedicated care team and developing policies that ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and emotional support.
The role offers a leadership opportunity to drive a new facility from inception to operation.
Responsibilities
* Lead the set-up and management of the new children's home, including achieving Ofsted registration.
* Recruit, develop, and manage a dedicated care team.
* Develop policies and procedures to ensure high standards of quality, safety, and emotional support for children.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements (e.g., Children Act 1989, Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Care Standards Act 2000).
* Lead safeguarding practices and direct work with children and families as required.
* Manage and create staff rotas and oversee budget and project management aspects.
* Demonstrate commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children and maintain flexibility to meet objectives.
* Pursue ongoing professional development and stay current with latest regulations, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications
* Registered Manager must achieve or hold the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Children and Young People.
* Experience in residential childcare (minimum 3 years).
* Knowledge of the Children Act 1989, Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Care Standards Act 2000, safeguarding procedures, direct work skills, management systems, and children’s rights.
* Leadership skills and the ability to manage budgets and projects.
* Competence in managing and creating staff rotas.
* Commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children and flexibility to achieve objectives.
* Willingness to engage in continuing professional development and stay current with regulations, policies, and procedures.
Special Conditions
* The post is subject to a six-month probationary period.
* The successful candidate will need to be approved by the appropriate statutory body, requiring full Ofsted registration in accordance with their conditions and timescales.
* Full UK driving licence is required.
