Headteacher – Brand New SEND School
Wigan
Salary: Up to £80,000
Lead the Creation of a New Specialist Education Setting!
An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for an experienced and forward-thinking education professional to take the lead in establishing a new independent specialist school
This position offers the chance to shape a provision from its earliest stages, setting the direction, culture and long-term strategy. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in creating a setting where young people can re-engage with learning, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes tailored to their individual needs.
About the Provision
The school will cater for a small cohort of secondary-aged learners with a maximum capacity of around 40 pupils. The model is designed around low pupil numbers and high staff support to ensure a personalised and structured learning environment.
The provision will support young people with a range of additional needs, including, Autism spectrum conditions, SEMH, Attention-related needs such as ADHD and Communication Difficulties
A strong emphasis will be placed on combining education with therapeutic input, enabling students to access a holistic and supportive learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
As the founding leader, you will:
* Establish the vision, values and day-to-day culture of the school
* Build and develop a high-performing, multidisciplinary team
* Design and implement a tailored, inclusive curriculum
* Drive high standards of teaching, learning and student outcomes
* Ensure effective safeguarding, compliance and operational delivery
* Create an environment where both staff and students feel supported and empowered
About You
You will be a confident and compassionate leader with:
* Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education
* Strong understanding of SEND, within a specialist or alternative settings is a must
* A track record of improving outcomes for young people with additional needs
* The ability to lead change, inspire teams and develop new services
