Job Overview

Are you a Dietitian who cares about good nutritional care and looking to develop your skills in the rewarding speciality of Learning Disabilities? We are seeking a compassionate dietitian with well developed communication skills and some existing post registration experience to join us to cover this role.

Whilst some previous experience in this speciality is ideal, we will consider those who haven't, to undertake a one‑year training competency framework under Annex 21 Band 6. During this year you will obtain the relevant training and experience to meet the full competency framework of this Band 6 role and will be able to undertake all duties within this specialist dietitian job description.

We will also support your development within this role via our CPD programme and connections across the BDA via the specialist interest group. Funding to complete related courses e.g. relevant BDA courses will be provided.


Main Duties of the Job

Your role will primarily involve dietetic care of patients referred by the Community Learning Disabilities team in the community settings across ABUHB via a mixture of face to face, video and telephone MDT working or group education.

Our Learning Disabilities Dietitian has the benefit of an experienced Dietetic Assistant Practitioner to support their clinical caseload and works alongside the small team of Mental health Specialist dietitians based in St Cadocs Hospital.

We actively participate in the dietetic student training programme for Wales and this year are piloting the new BDA Common Assessment Tool.


Work Hours & Flexible Working

Our core department hours are 8.30 – 4.30 but we work flexibly and within our guidance there will be scope for you to adjust working hours to fit around personal commitments. This post is advertised as full time 37.5 hours a week but alternative hours will be considered. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Experience and Competency

* Post registration experience working in relevant specialist area of clinical dietetics


Skills

* Good standard of written communication
* Supervisory skills with junior team members
* Group teaching and facilitation skills


Qualifications

* BSc / PG dip in Dietetics
* Post graduate course related to specialty
* Clinical educators course
* Module studied to Masters level


UK Registration

* HCPC registered Dietitian
* Professional membership of specialist group or supporting charity
