Cover Supervisor
Location: Scarborough and surrounding areas, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full-Time, Part-Time, Temporary, Supply
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £102 – £120 per day

GSL Education is currently seeking confident, reliable, and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work within secondary schools across Scarborough and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced support staff, or individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience within education.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences by supervising classes, delivering pre-set work, and ensuring students remain engaged and focused throughout lessons.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
* Supervise classes in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
* Deliver pre-planned lessons and ensure students complete the work set.
* Maintain positive behaviour and classroom expectations in line with school policies.
* Support students with their learning and encourage active participation.
* Manage classroom routines and ensure a safe, productive learning environment.
* Record attendance and provide feedback to teaching staff regarding lesson progress and behaviour.
* Respond appropriately to any issues or concerns that arise during lessons.
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, support staff, and senior leaders.
Cover Supervisor Requirements:
* Previous experience working with young people in an educational, coaching, mentoring, youth work, or support capacity is desirable.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
* Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
* Confidence in leading groups of young people and managing behaviour effectively.
* Adaptability and willingness to work across a range of subjects and year groups.
* A professional, calm, and resilient approach.
* Commitment to supporting the educational progress and wellbeing of young people.
* An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
