Overview
Post-Doctoral Research Associate: Vibrational Design in Confinement (Fixed Term)
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance. Applicants are invited to apply for a position in the group of Dr. Mariana Rossi. The candidate will work on topics related to the ERC-Consolidator Grant QUADYMM.
Responsibilities
* Perform simulations of confined molecular materials and develop techniques to simulate quantum nuclear dynamics including dissipative non-adiabatic effects. Areas of application will include water and aromatic molecules at interfaces, in and out of equilibrium.
* Apply machine-learning methods to atomistic simulations, molecular dynamics techniques and code development.
Qualifications
* PhD in Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science (or about to obtain).
* Proficiency in scientific programming and mathematics, with a strong background in theoretical and computational solid-state physics, physical chemistry or chemical physics.
* Experience with machine-learning for atomistic simulations and molecular dynamics; experience with electronic-structure code such as FHI-aims is beneficial.
Appointment and eligibility
* Appointment at the Research Associate level is dependent on the award of a PhD. Candidates who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at the Research Assistant level, amended to Research Associate once the PhD is confirmed.
Equality, diversity and inclusion
* We particularly welcome applications from women and/or candidates from a BME background as they are currently under-represented in this department.
* The Department holds an Athena SWAN Silver award for women in science, and the University supports equality, diversity and inclusion; the University requires eligibility to live and work in the UK.
