Responsibilities
* Deliver the Healthy Child Programme and tackle important public health issues.
* Conduct home visits, clinic contacts and work with a range of professionals from early years and social care to child centres.
* Play a role in improving the health and wellbeing of families and children in Herefordshire.
Qualifications
* First level registered nurse or midwife with the NMC.
* Health‑related degree (Nursing or Midwifery) for Level 7 study.
* Full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.
* Commitment to a 12‑month fixed‑term contract.
Training & Development
The Specialist Community and Public Health Nursing post is funded for 12 months and will be commencing in February 2026. The post holder will have 50% in practice and 50% theory and will develop the skills and knowledge required to practice safely and effectively.
The student Health Visitor will be a key member of the health visiting team and ensure the delivery of safe, effective and high quality services to children and families using evidence based research.
The student will take responsibility for maximising their learning experience and fully integrate theory into practice in order to obtain the skills and qualifications to meet the required standard for registration as a Health Visitor with the NMC.
