Commercial Manager
Location: Bridgwater
Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 DOE + bonus
About the Role
An established and growing organisation operating within the infrastructure and logistics sector is seeking a proactive Commercial Manager to support the delivery of complex, high-value projects across the UK. The business specialises in precision-led logistics and engineering solutions, supporting critical infrastructure developments through innovative and collaborative approaches.
This role will take ownership of commercial governance and financial performance across designated projects. Working closely with project leadership, clients and supply chain partners, you will ensure robust commercial processes, strong financial control and accurate reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
You will act as a key link between stakeholders, ensuring that commercial data is managed effectively, contractual matters are handled efficiently, and projects are delivered in line with both financial and contractual expectations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the commercial function across assigned projects, ensuring strong governance and financial control
2. Develop and implement commercial strategies to maximise profitability and project value
3. Take ownership of forecasting, cash flow management and cost-to-complete (CTC) reporting
4. Identify commercial risks and opportunities, implementing effective mitigation strategies
5. Oversee contract administration across NEC and other contract frameworks
6. Lead contractual discussions and negotiations with clients and subcontractors
7. Provide clear commercial guidance to project teams
8. Manage and track scope changes, ensuring they are properly recorded, costed and approved
9. Oversee applications for payment, variations and final accounts
10. Maintain accurate commercial records and ensure compliance with contractual obligations
Skills & Experience
11. Proven experience in a Commercial Manager role within construction, infrastructure, utilities or similar project environments
12. Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (e.g. ECC, PSC) and associated processes
13. Demonstrated experience managing project finances, including forecasting, cash flow and cost control
14. Experience preparing and negotiating applications for payment, variations and final accounts
15. Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and mitigate risks early
16. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
