Summary
We are seeking a committed and qualified Educational Psychologist to join our vibrant SEND team in London and surrounding areas on a 6-12 month contract with a local authority. This role is crucial in delivering timely and high-quality psychological advice for statutory assessments of children and young people with special educational needs (SEN), adhering to statutory guidelines and deadlines. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children and young people by collaborating with families, schools, and multi-agency partners to foster inclusive and evidence-based support.
Key Responsibilities
* Address referrals from the SEND Team to assist with statutory assessments of special educational needs within established timeframes.
* Perform thorough psychological assessments of children and young people, considering educational, developmental, familial, and community contexts.
* Deliver clear, robust, and evidence-based psychological advice to support Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
* Work collaboratively with schools, families, and other professionals to develop interventions and support strategies.
* Ensure accurate and timely documentation and reports in compliance with legislative and local requirements.
* Advocate for inclusive practices and contribute to early intervention and graduated response frameworks.
* Maintain the highest standards of professional practice in line with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) codes of conduct.
* Engage in team meetings, supervision, CPD activities, and relevant local authority initiatives.
Essential Requirements
* Must hold Dr professional qualification in Educational Psychology.
* Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist (Educational) in the UK.
* Demonstrable experience (or placement experience for early career applicants) in applying psychology in educational settings.
* Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and statutory processes related to EHCPs.
* Ability to write clear, concise, and accessible psychological reports that inform statutory decision-making.
* Holds an Enhanced DBS for adults and children.
* Knowledge of child development, learning difficulties, emotional and behavioural needs, and systemic working.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
* Proficiency in IT systems and digital tools used for casework, communication, and reporting.
