Job Description:
AFC Wimbledon Women are looking to recruit a dedicated, self-motivated, and knowledgeable individual interested in entering women’s football at Tier 3, working with elite female footballers.
We seek Chartered Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, or Sports Rehabilitators to join our Medical department. The Medical Therapist plays a crucial role in AFC Wimbledon Women’s long-term vision.
The successful candidate will work within a Tier 3 women’s football club, providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation services for all women’s players from the 1st team and occasionally pathway players.
Candidates should be flexible with working hours, including weekends, midweek sessions, and occasional overnight stays. This role offers opportunities for internal CPD, staying current with literature, understanding scope of practice, and enhancing practical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide emergency first aid during training and matches
* Conduct clinical assessments of injured players before games
* Maintain detailed injury and treatment records, uploading them to our platform
* Communicate regularly with coaches, strength and conditioning staff, and players regarding injuries and player availability
* Participate in in-house CPD sessions
* Support the development of junior therapists within the women’s pathway
* Ensure compliance with club policies, including health and safety, equality, safeguarding, and confidentiality
* Hold a BSc degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
* Maintain HCPC/BASRaT/SST registration
* Hold in-date EMFAif qualification and commit to annual reaccreditation
* Be willing to work with high-level athletes, managing injuries and rehabilitation plans
* Maintain medical insurance suitable for treating semi-professional women’s footballers
* Possess the ability to play or participate in football at a high level
* Possess MSc qualifications in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
