As a Fraud Investigator, your work will adapt based on business needs, so flexibility and adaptability are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Request necessary evidence from designated sources using Authorised Officer powers and the Operational Intelligence Service.
2. Collaborate with other departments and organizations such as Local Authorities, Police, and HMRC within existing partnership frameworks.
3. Research and gather information for investigations, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
4. Complete Requests for Information (RFIs) as needed.
5. Record, retain, and review collected materials for criminal investigations and disclosure purposes.
6. Recommend next steps for action to Team Leaders for consideration.
7. Conduct Interviews under Caution following legal guidelines.
8. Prepare prosecution cases in accordance with Crown Office & Procurator Fiscal Service guidance (Scotland).
9. Attend court sessions and provide evidence in criminal cases and appeal tribunals.
10. Maintain quality standards by following DWP policies, procedures, and CFCD operational instructions.
11. Work effectively within a team and contribute to team goals.
12. Promote fraud awareness within DWP and to external partners.
13. Communicate confidently and professionally with internal staff and external agencies.
