Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, is looking to recruit an Instructor / Technician - Marine on a full-time, permanent basis. In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £26,432 – £31,289 per annum. As of August 2025, this role will benefit from a 3% pay award. The Instructor / Technician - Marine Role: As our Workshop Instructor, you will undertake duties in the Marine departments workshop, based at the Poole Campus. You will assist our team of lecturers in delivering high quality and effective instructing to learners within the Marine department to Bournemouth and Poole College students. You will undertake Technician duties, in the Marine departments workshop, stores and in other areas as directed, to assist lecturers in the procurement of stock, maintenance, and delivery of training programs. A Teaching qualification can be completed alongside this role if you are interested in progressing into teaching. Responsibilities as our Instructor / Technician - Marine will include: Contribute to high quality learning experiences using a variety of methods. Ensure that the instructing is based on current best available practice and is consistent with a high standard reflective of the work environment Provide academic and pastoral support to students in accordance with agreed procedures Participate in the College's appraisal process and to undertake any training that may be appropriate Take appropriate responsibility to ensure the health and safety of self and others Pursue the achievement and integration of equal opportunities throughout all The College's activities Preparation of learning environment for lessons Assist with the preparation of reports on student progress for parents/carers and employers as appropriate Participation in curriculum development activities Representation of the College at internal & external events Attendance at open evenings and award events, department trips Completion of College paperwork in relation to student disciplinary matters Travel within the working day and between sites if required Clean and repair apparatus, equipment and workshops to the standard required by awarding bodies for the delivery of their courses. Support the teaching team in demonstrating apparatus and equipment, assist in practical projects as directed. Responsible for maintaining an adequate supply of materials, reclaiming reusable and disposing of scrap materials. As our Instructor/Technician in Marine, you'll ideally have: Level 1 (or equivalent GCSE) in English and Math's Trained First Aider – or willing to undertake training upon starting Experience in the Marine Engineering or Electrical industry Forklift license – or willingness to undertake training Health and Safety with engineering industry equipment Marine or related industry experience Knowledge of equipment and tool maintenance Benefits you will receive: You will receive excellent benefits and a competitive salary: 27.5 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 30.5 after 5 years' service up to 4 days additional leave during the Christmas closure period Access to Discount Schemes at multiple retailers Enrolment into the NEST Pension Scheme If you feel you are the right candidate for this Lecturer in Marine Engineering role,then please click ‘ apply' now!
