We're working with a small, close-knit Finance team who are looking for a reliable and hands-on Management Accountant to provide key support to the Finance Director & Finance Manager. This is a practical, day-to-day role where you'll take ownership of prepayments, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end processes, ensuring the business accounts are accurate, up-to-date, and ready for management decisions.
This role is perfect for a detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys working autonomously, supporting senior management, and contributing to a small but busy Finance team.
Key Responsibilities
As Management Accountant, you'll be responsible for a variety of hands-on accounting and reporting tasks, including:
* Supporting the Finance Director with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including analysis of variances and commentary for management review
* Preparing and posting prepayments, accruals, and journal entries accurately and on time
* Maintaining ledgers and reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are accurate and up to date
* Monitoring budgets, forecasts, and cash flow and flagging any issues to the FD
* Supporting the year-end audit process and liaising with external auditors, providing all necessary schedules and explanations
* Producing ad hoc reports to support business decisions and management reporting
* Assisting with cost analysis, departmental reporting, and profitability tracking
* Supporting the team with day-to-day finance operations, including processing invoices, tracking payments, and resolving minor account queries
* Ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards
About You
The ideal candidate will be a practical, organised, and proactive finance professional who thrives in a small-team environment. You'll need:
* Proven experience as a Management Accountant or in a similar finance/accounting role
* Comfortable handling prepayments, accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations
* Strong proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting software
* Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and accuracy in all work
* Ability to work independently, manage your workload, and meet deadlines
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the confidence to liaise with the FD and colleagues
* A practical mindset and willingness to take ownership of key finance processes
