We are looking for a new Bank Ophthalmic Assistant to join our Manchester site. As a bank role the hours will be variable.

This role supports the clinic, delivering diagnostic testing and patient care, and provides a platform to develop clinical skills and a potential career path in diagnostic (clinic) or theatre teams.

Job Description
Key responsibilities
* Primary responsibility for delivering ongoing clinic services including: managing the relationship with the patient and providing information to ensure exceptional customer service.
* Management of patient data: ensuring availability, accuracy and confidentiality; retrieving patient records, liaising with central operations, updating electronic patient records and producing letters to patients.
* Performing, verifying and recording results of clinical testing with integrity.
* Working with clinic staff and clinicians to ensure optimal patient flow and support when required.
* Undertaking other ad hoc and administrative tasks to ensure smooth running of the clinic.
* Appropriate escalation of process, clinical, equipment, quality or infection risk issues.
* Maintaining positive relationships with client teams at every interaction.
* Committed to ongoing professional development, clinical governance, including appraisal, mandatory training, clinical audits and research as required.

* Previous experience of working with patients or carers
* Experience dealing with a variety of data (patient records, GP and patient correspondence, diagnostic test results)
Qualifications
Essential
* A good level of general education or equivalent experience
* GCSE Maths and English
Knowledge and skills
Essential
* Knowledge of eye physiology and treatment or a keen interest to build knowledge in this area
* Proven customer service skills with a passion for customer care
* Competent use of Office 365 and comfortable with new systems such as patient record systems or diagnostic programmes
* Excellent command of English, both verbal and written
* Good team player, able to support others when required
* Excellent organisation skills and the ability to multi-task
* Committed to high standards of testing and administration
* Enjoys a process-driven environment and contributes in a small team
* Able to balance working independently with appropriate escalation
