The Role
Almac Sciences are currently recruiting for talented Preformulation Chemists to join our growing team at our Craigavon Headquarters in Northern Ireland.
Working as part of a multi‑disciplinary project team you will plan carefully, carry out work safely, and document and communicate your methods and results accurately.
The post holder will perform high quality research and development programmes on behalf of external clients to agreed timelines. Research programmes will focus on the physicochemical and solid‑state characterisation of APIs, generation of robust pre‑formulation data, and the development of scientifically justified strategies to support formulation and in vivo studies.
Key Activities
* Physicochemical characterisation of APIs (e.g. solubility, pKa/LogP, dissolution assessment)
* Design and execution of pre‑formulation and early formulation studies
* Generation and interpretation of data to support formulation and developability decisions
* Preparation of high‑quality technical reports and project updates for clients
Essential Candidate Criteria
* Degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or other closely related discipline.
* Experience in pharmaceutical drug substance or drug product development
Desirable Candidate Criteria
* Previous industry‑based experience of pre‑formulation, early formulation technologies, and/or advanced formulation technologies (e.g. spray drying, hot melt extrusion, lipid formulations)
* Postgraduate qualification such as MSc, PhD or equivalent in Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences or a closely related discipline
