Job Summary
If you are an experienced Pharmacy Technician with at least 2 years Primary Care experience and an interest in leadership, this role offers an opportunity to shape future dispensary services. You will work with a dynamic pharmacy team to provide the best clinical service for patients and liaise closely with other healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated medicine management Pharmacy Technician with strong clinical and managerial skills and knowledge of the medicines optimisation agenda.
Responsibilities
* Lead and line manage the team of 6 Pharmacy Technicians located across the practices within Rugby Health PCN.
* Provide mentorship and guidance to the team to support professional development.
* Assist the Advanced Practitioner - Clinical Pharmacist Lead to operationally oversee the PCN Clinical Pharmacy service provided through the Pharmacy Technicians.
* Manage and monitor performance of Rugby Health Pharmacy Technicians, including recruitment, induction, probation review, and ongoing performance management.
Technical and Administrative Responsibilities
* Work with the PCN multi-disciplinary team to ensure efficient medicines optimisation, reduce wastage, and implement efficient ordering and return processes.
* Supervise practice reception teams to streamline prescription requests and enable clinicians to review clinically complex cases.
* Provide leadership for medicines optimisation systems across the PCN, promoting Electronic Prescribing, safe repeat prescribing, and monitoring of high-risk medicines.
* Deliver training and support on safe handling of medicines and the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS).
* Develop relationships with pharmacy technicians, pharmacists and the wider multi-disciplinary team to support integration across health and social care.
* Ensure appropriate data handling in line with Data Protection Act, Caldicott Guidelines and Confidentiality Code of Conduct.
* Plan and organise own workload to meet deadlines and undertake ongoing professional development.
* Carry out other duties appropriate to the post and priorities of the service.
Requirements
You will be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician and have completed the CPPE Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway.
Person Specification
Essential
* 2 years Primary Care experience
* Experience of supervising a clinical team and leadership
* Computer literate with ability to use clinical systems and Microsoft Office
* Understanding of current healthcare policy within the PCN
* Able to analyse and interpret prescribing data
* Attention to detail and ability to work accurately and manage resources
* Strong planning, organisation and prioritisation skills
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt to different audiences
* Understanding of data protection and confidentiality issues
Desirable
* People/line management experience

* EMIS User Skills
* Experience of medicines reconciliation
* Understanding of community pharmacy systems
