LOCATION : Winfield House, Regents Park

WORK HOURS : Full-time hours/week as directed by Employer, including irregular hours
SALARY : £47,000

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Under the direct supervision of the Head Chef, the Sous Chef supports the day-to-day food operation of Winfield House (Residence/WH) to ensure the highest standards of food production for the Ambassador, his family, guests and other staff. Duties include:
- Liaises with the Head Chef to establish food requirements for the Ambassador, his family, and guests
- Responsible for food preparation, daily kitchen operations and ensuring that all dishes meet quality standards
- Organizes stock levels of all food items and advises Head Chef of any purchases needed
- Deputizes for the Head Chef in his absence
- Plans menus for meals or events using seasonal supplies wherever possible
- Keeps all kitchen areas in a safe, well-maintained and hygienic condition
- Assists with supervision of catering staff during functions
- Responsible for assisting other Embassy properties as required
- Performs any other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the residence
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

EDUCATION : Secondary/GCSE level education is required. Certified evidence of successful appropriate Catering College full-time diploma course; OR City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ in Professional Cookery.
EXPERIENCE : Minimum of three years experience in a busy, professional kitchen, high quality dining hotel, restaurant or private service kitchen is required.
LANGUAGE : Fluent in written and spoken English is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE : Extensive knowledge of fine dining and related food preparation, presentation and service is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Solid foundation in cooking techniques and a passion for food is essential. Good interpersonal skills, both written and verbal; good social skills to deal with people at the highest level; ability and experience to manage a small kitchen, remaining calm during busy periods. Understanding food safety and hygiene regulations is crucial for maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
