We are recruiting an experienced Technical Director Environmental Impact Assessment to join our Environment & Sustainability business, which has over 650 staff across the UK and Ireland. Our team is flexible in terms of location, including offices in Basingstoke, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Chesterfield, Croydon, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London Aldgate, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Plymouth, St Albans, Warrington. As a Technical Director, you will lead multidisciplinary environmental inputs for large-scale development projects that are transforming infrastructure and supporting the UK’s net zero goals. These projects include:
* Energy generation (carbon capture, hydrogen, renewables)
* Energy distribution and transmission (including international connectors)
* National and regional rail projects
* Highway improvements and greenway projects
* Regeneration projects, port developments
* Developments in ecommerce, minerals, waste, water, defense, aviation, commercial/residential, and industrial sectors
You will oversee environmental contributions throughout all project stages, from early strategy to operation and maintenance, across various consenting regimes. You will also play a key role in securing new business and managing client relationships. You will collaborate daily with technical experts within our Environmental Impact team, aligned with our ESG strategy and IEMA EIA Quality Mark standards.
Your responsibilities include:
* Expertise: Lead multidisciplinary environmental inputs, review environment reports, manage resources and budgets.
* Collaborate: Work within integrated design teams to identify constraints, develop solutions, and deliver benefits.
* Create: Support business development, proposals, and client engagement.
* Inspire: Mentor and develop staff.
* Champion: Promote AECOM's environmental services internally and externally.
Qualifications include experience managing multidisciplinary environmental projects, knowledge of EIA processes, consenting regimes, stakeholder engagement, team leadership, excellent communication skills, project management, and a relevant environmental degree (Masters preferred). Willingness to travel is required. Bonus qualifications include Chartered Environmentalist status, experience with DCO/TWAO regimes, and staff mentoring.
