Job Summary

Delivery of Avionic/Electrical Engineering training within No1 School of Technical Training, the foremost provider of Aeronautical Engineering training to the next generation of RAF engineers.

Job Description

The role of an Avionic Instructor, at the RAF No1 School of Technical Training, is to provide initial trade training to RAF Aircraft Electronic/Electrical Apprentices, as well as more advanced training to existing RAF aeronautical engineers. The school also delivers the same aeronautical training to international students under government contract.

The ideal candidate should be a great communicator with the ability to effectively describe complicated ideas to different audiences.

The working environment is a mixture of Classroom and Practical based training delivery, which takes place within the delivery areas, using classrooms, workshops, Ground training aids such as the Jaguar and Tornado aircraft and aircraft system simulators using modern learning methods.

Please be aware successful candidates for the SIO positions are required to obtain Disclosure & Barring Service (formally Criminal Records Bureau) clearance.

Person specification

The successful candidate will be responsible to the Avionic/Electrical Training Managers for: -


* Classroom and practical instruction on topics within the aircraft discipline and various allied subjects.
* Delivering training objectives that will prepare students for the next step of their career path.
* Building course specific training programs and prepare teaching plans, identify training needs by evaluating strengths and weaknesses.
* Developing or overseeing the production of classroom hand-outs, instructional materials, aids, and manuals.
* Directing structured learning experiences and monitor their quality results

They will also be expected to teach in other delivery areas as required, giving the school enhanced capability and resilience.

Qualifications

Essential: Level 3 Qualification - Aeronautical Engineering (AE) Avionic/Electrical or Electronic/Electrical or industry equivalent transferable skills

Desirable: Cert Ed or equivalent. (However, Defence Train the Trainer courses are available for non-qualified trainers here at RAF Cosford)

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. This vacancy is open to UK nationals only and the level of security needed is Developed Vetting (DV).
