We are looking to recruit band 7, Senior Nurse Practitioner to work as part of the UrgentTreatment Centre team, who will be responsible for providing high qualityhealth care and information to the public. An opportunity exists for an experiencedand highly motivated practitioner with relevant Adult and Paediatric experiencewho is committed to making a valuable contribution to the further developmentof these successful and pioneering services.
As a Registered Nurse you willbe responsible for supporting your Manager in ensuring that our service usersneeds are met through the delivery of high-quality care. As a centre ofexcellence, you will offer a person-centred approach to their independence andwell-being.
The services offer treatment for minor injuries and minor ailments 365days per year, and are open from 8am 9:00 pm. With the addition of diagnosticXray facility 8am-8pm
If you have post qualification experience in A&E, Walk-in Centre orUrgent Care with recent experience in the treatment of minor ailments and Minorinjuries we would like to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
Toact as a senior clinical professional within Widnes Urgent Treatment Centre.Liaising with the UTC team and colleagues across the wider social and healthcare environment to promote, maintain and enhance effective multidisciplinarypatient care.
Toact as an independent practitioner who provides advice to patients and staffwhich contributes to Triage, utilising Manchester triage system, historytaking, assessment, diagnosis, plan of care and treatment of patients.
Possessand demonstrate extended skills in the management of a wide range of healthcare problems i.e. minor illness and injury.
Maintaina high standard of clinical work when carrying out clinical procedures.
Responsiblefor the safe custody of medication, including checking and administration.
Ensurecompliance with our clinical governance framework, you will motivatecolleagues, champion service user safety and dignity and drive continuousimprovement.
Exerciseprofessional independent and clinical judgement in managing or referringclients to a variety of primary and secondary care services as appropriate
Be equipped withleadership skills to drive the team to efficient and safe working practice andimproved care for patients

Job responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:
Co-ordinate and deliver the day-to-day supervision of the team as shift leader.
Act as a resource for other members of the Urgent Treatment Centre clinical team.
In collaboration with the Team Leaders promote the development and effectiveness of the nurse-led service utilizing a multi-skilled team approach.
Maintain effective channels of communication both within the Urgent Treatment Centre and across the wider health and social care economy.
Promote and maintain the quality and standards of the Urgent Treatment Centre services in accordance with organisational and Trust Clinical Governance requirements.
Facilitate a culture, which promotes and maintains best practice utilising current and best evidence, as well as culture of civility and respect.
Managerial
* Supervise and maintain high standards of professional care in accordance with current NMC Code of Professional Conduct, Scope of Professional Practice and ethical considerations.
* Provide a supportive environment for staff, take responsibility for and perform in clinical supervision and personal development planning.
* Assist the Clinical Lead/Operational Manager in shaping and developing a nurse-led service, which is welcoming and effective to the needs of service users.
* Participate in the development of an effective nurse-led service utilising a holistic, health needs approach.
* Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of policies, procedures and clinical guidelines as appropriate, proposing changes where necessary.
* Supervision of the supply of medicines by junior staff as appropriate via PGD.
* Manage and co-ordinate medicine stock control
* Day to day supervision of the team, which includes the allocation, planning and organisation of the workforce, and work planning for the UTC, reallocating work and tasks as required to meet the demands of the service and patient needs, referring to alternative services as required.
Leadership
Fulfil the role of coordinator on a day-to-day basis/ as and when required and assist the Clinical Lead in fulfilling the operational requirements of the service within budgetary limits.
Delegate responsibility where appropriate and encourage a culture where flexibility and adaptability are positively encouraged.
Support and maintain the focus of the nurse-led service.
Adopt and promote a positive approach to change.
Actively participate in and promote the development of professional nursing practice.
Clinical
Exercise a high degree of clinical independence and professional judgement, treating independently within the Urgent Treatment Centre and where necessary referring to a range of primary organisations.
Provide specialised advice when reviewing patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed health care problems.
Assess health care needs of patients, diagnose treat and manage as appropriate. Referring to care services as appropriate
Possess proven skills in the management of a wide range of health care problems i.e. Minor illness and injury, wound care, chronic disease management.
Provide health promotion education.
Undertake a range of clinical procedures, which may include, suturing, venepuncture, cannulation, ear syringing, slit lamp use, removal of foreign bodies.
Participate in and undertake triage to ensure smooth progress of patients through the system.
Initiate and conduct clinical investigations as appropriate.
Supply and administer medications as appropriate via PGD
Exercise independent and delegated prescribing rights in accordance with current and legal and ICB criteria, and within the clinical situation.
Identify at risk patients and manage appropriately in accordance with national and local policy and procedures i.e. vulnerable children, adults and child protection.
Collaborate with the Clinical Lead/Operational Manager in the co-ordination of services and patients within the Urgent Treatment Centre.
Act as an advocate for the patient at all times.
Offer a complementary service to that of other health care providers within the local health economy
Utilizing own professional knowledge and skills, act as a resource for other members of the Urgent Treatment Centre team
Empower colleagues and clients and demonstrate the ability to facilitate effective clinical practice based on best evidence

Using judgement and analytical skills when reviewing patients, lab results and x-rays with specialised needs and conditions, changing treatments as required.
Able to adopt manual handling techniques safely when manoeuvring patients during the course of their care.

Experience of working in highly unpleasant working conditions due to the nature of the role where patients can behave in a certain way or where body fluids such as open wounds are experienced frequently.
