Job Title: Payroll Team Leader
Target Start Date: 1st June
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract, Part Time, Full Time, Job Share option available
Salary Range: up to £52,000
Location: Eastleigh, Hybrid
Payroll Team Leader: Lead and deliver end‑to‑end payroll operations, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant monthly payroll. Manage and support a small team, provide hands‑on expertise across the full payroll cycle, and act as a trusted partner to HR and Finance. Drive continuous improvement while maintaining high standards of data integrity, controls and regulatory compliance.
IRIS Cascade experience is essential for this role.
Main Responsibilities
* Own and deliver end‑to‑end payroll processing for employees and pensioners
* Validate gross‑to‑net calculations and resolve discrepancies promptly
* Administer statutory and occupational payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, ShPP, SAP)
* Manage pension auto enrolment, contributions and provider submissions
* Oversee payrolling of benefits in kind, ensuring accurate tax treatment
* Maintain payroll data and system integrity within IRIS Cascade
* Complete month‑end reconciliations and ensure accurate financial postings
* Submit RTI filings (FPS/EPS) and support year‑end activities (P60, P11D, PSA)
* Produce payroll reporting and respond to stakeholder requests
* Lead, coach and support a small team to deliver consistent, high‑quality outcomes
* Ensure ongoing compliance with UK payroll legislation and internal policy
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Skills and Experience
* Proven experience delivering end‑to‑end UK payroll in a complex environment
* Strong working knowledge of IRIS Cascade (essential)
* Solid understanding of payroll calculations, controls and reconciliation processes
* Up‑to‑date knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and RTI
* Experience managing statutory leave and benefits in kind processing
* Strong attention to detail and a methodical, accurate approach
* Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across HR and Finance
* Leadership capability, with experience supporting or developing others
* Ability to prioritise, manage deadlines and work proactively
* Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on quality and efficiency
