Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full or part-time experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our busy, friendly clinical team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and motivated individual who is willing to undertake clinics within our clinical team, whilst also be able to work independently. We are a forward thinking training GP Practice with a strong patient centred ethos, based across 3 sites in Stockport with easy access to the motorway network.
Main Duties
* Phlebotomy
* BP Monitoring and recording
* Conduct and record heights, weights BP for patients
* Undertake 24hr BP fitting and recording of results
* Testing and recording of clinical specimens
* Undertake ECG monitoring
* Provide lifestyle advice to patients
* Provide smoking cessation advice
* Provide foot checks for diabetic patients
* Provide assistance in Well woman’s clinic
* Provide assistance in Minor surgery & vasectomy clinics
* Process lab samples requested by clinicians
* Administering Flu, Pneumococcal & B12 injections according to PSD
* Monitor & ensure adequate levels of stock in the stock rooms, treatment rooms, fridges & cupboards
* Vaccine and cold chain monitoring
* Ensure infection control monitoring/cleaning procedures in place in all clinical areas
* Chaperoning & assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by a clinician
* Ensure all clinical rooms are tidy, clean and well stocked prior to and after clinical session
About Us
We are a very friendly 3 site training practice based in the Stockport Area. We are supported by a large team of individuals consisting of GP's, ANP's, Pharmacists, Well-being Co-Coordinators, FCP's, Practice Nurses, TNA's, HCA's and also an experienced, supportive Clerical Team. We currently use EMIS Web as our clinical system in conjunction with Accurx as our booking system.

Job Responsibilities
* Health assessments including completing any necessary paperwork for which you have received appropriate training.
* BP monitoring, pulse, rate and rhythm.
* Urinalysis.
* Venepuncture.
* Provide lifestyle advice to patients and taking simple details of medical history.
* Recording heights, weights, blood pressure and other measurements of patients as required.
* Smoking advice.
* ECGs.
* 24hr BP monitoring.
* Foot care.
* Administer flu, pneumococcal and B12 injections according to Patient Specific Directions.
* Basic suture removal.
* Assist in Minor surgery and Vasectomy clinics.
* Ordering stock and restocking of clinical areas and consulting rooms.
* Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by a clinician.
* Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions.
* Report all matters pertaining to patients care changes in condition/circumstances to a relevant member of the nursing or medical team as a matter of priority and ensure that a document record is kept.
Administrative and Professional Responsibilities
* Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the Practice team.
* Ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded on the computer and in the patients medical records.
* Ensure the clinical computer system is kept up to date with accurate details recorded.
* Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the Practice.
* Ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports.
* Adhere to Infection Control Procedures and Policies.
* Attend and participate in all Practice meetings as required.
* Assist in the formation of Practice philosophy, strategy and policy.
* Maintain a notice board in the waiting area designated for patient health care education.
* Ordering and display of Health Promotion materials.
* Have knowledge of and act at all times within the boundaries of health and safety legislation and data protection acts.
* Have understanding of equal opportunities policy.
* Administer call and recall systems in relation to chronic disease management; immunisations, breast and cervical cytology screening; therapy reviews (medications) organise appointments and follow up.
Liaison
* Maintain effective liaison with other agencies and staff concerned with patient care and with all other disciplines within the Practice, with appropriate regard to confidentiality.
* Know the practices policies and how to report concerns.
Professional Development
* Maintain continued education by attendance at course and study days as deemed useful or necessary for professional development.
Special Requirements of the Post
* Completion of recognised Health Care Assistant training.
* An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.
* An ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness, common sense and local knowledge to respond to patients enquiries and requests while adhering to practice limitations.
* Ability to self‑motivate, organise and prioritise workloads.
* An understanding and acceptance of one's capabilities and awareness of own limitations.

* Excellent communication skills.
* Basic keyboard skills.

Person Specification
* Healthcare qualification (level 2 upwards).

* Essential: Experience of working within a Healthcare setting, Holder of a Care Certificate or willing to work towards it.
* Desirable: Experience of working in Primary Care.
Qualifications
* Essential: Healthcare Qualification (level 2 upwards), Venepuncture, Experience of working in a Healthcare setting.
* Desirable: Willingness to train and learn as and when required.
