As our Senior Commercial Lawyer, you will play a key role in:
2. Leading and advising on high-value, complex commercial contracts, including procurement, partnerships, collaborations, joint ventures, and research agreements.
3. Advising on intellectual property, data protection, and contractual risk.
4. Supporting strategic university initiatives such as campus developments, international partnerships, and enterprise activities.
5. Providing legal guidance to senior leadership and academic teams across the University.
6. Managing external legal providers and mentoring junior legal colleagues.
You will be a qualified solicitor or barrister in England & Wales with:
7. Significant post-qualification experience in commercial law, ideally including time in-house or in the public/education sector.
8. Strong negotiation and drafting skills, with a pragmatic and solution-focused approach.
9. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – able to build trust and influence stakeholders at all levels.
10. A commitment to the values of a modern, inclusive, and accessible university.
Experience in higher education, public procurement, or charity law is desirable but not essential.
