Overview
We are seeking to recruit a Qualified Specialist CBT Therapist to join the recently awarded Best Team to work in Oxleas, the Bexley Older Adult Services (CMHT). The successful candidate will join the psychological therapy team offering specialised psychological assessment and intervention to service users and their carers. The post holder will have a keen interest to work in a multidisciplinary team who offer support and intervention to older adults.
Main duties of the job
The Bexley Older Adult Community Mental Health Team (OACMHT) is a multidisciplinary team for people over the age of 65 who experience severe and complex mental health difficulties. The postholder will undertake specialist assessments and CBT interventions to individuals or their carers as well as delivering group-based interventions. The role also involves offering advice and consultation on client’s psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers. The team has close links with other services including third-sector organisations. Oxleas has a strong tradition in promoting psychological therapies and embraces multi-modal formulation-based approaches. Personal therapeutic interests and specialty development are actively encouraged and supported. There will be the opportunity to develop specialist competencies in evidence-based models (for example, CBT, EMDR, SCM) for individual and group therapy.

Person specification
Qualifications
* To have undertaken a recognised qualification in one of the core mental health professions e.g. psychiatric nursing, occupational therapy, social work, clinical/counselling psychology with appropriate up-to-date registration
* To have completed a post‑graduate accredited qualification in CBT
* Training in older adult mental health
Experience
* Experience of working in older people’s mental health services, including with people with dementia and their carers
* Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of older adults or adults in a variety of care settings
* Experience of facilitating psychoeducation, skills‑based and/or therapeutic groups
Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of the theory and practice of CBT within mental health settings.
