Electric Square is looking for an accomplished, enthusiastic, and self-motivated Senior Technical Designer to join our Brighton based team working on an exciting, critically acclaimed franchise. For this role you will need to be located within European times zones.
A Technical Designer at Electric Square:
* Works closely with the design and engineering teams to help architect new features, liaising between them to ensure features and tools meet all requirement
* Can understand and expand existing systems, or create new game systems if necessary
* Can do rapid prototyping to validate game ideas
Requirements
* 3+ years of professional experience with at least one released project as a technical designer working with UE5
* Working-to-expert knowledge of the Gameplay Ability System
* Able to create & modify GAS attribute sets in C++
* Comfortable using C++ to extend the functionality of classes to broaden the reach of the Gameplay Ability System to affect more in-game elements
* Comfortable with advanced aspects of blueprinting, e.g. supporting networking, optimisation
* Able to use blueprinting to create tools for other designers, e.g. create wider systems of existing specific examples
* Comfortable debugging the blueprints of others, providing technical feedback and setting the technical standards for the team
* Skilled at explaining necessary changes to less technically minded team-members following reviews
* Can effectively plan/estimate/schedule tech design feature work
Skills:
* Able to concisely articulate game concepts and analyse game mechanics
* Understand feedback and make a plan to address it
* Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including with team members outside of the design team
* Ability to manage time and workload effectively including planning, organising, and prioritising. Able to break down and structure tasks to meet deadlines efficiently
* Highly self-motivated with a positive mental attitude and pride in delivering quality
