About The Role
We are currently seeking an Associate Teaching Assistant to join our Additional Support department at The Bedford College Group. As an Associate Teaching Assistant, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
* Student Support Across Courses – Provides tailored one-to-one or small group support to SEND students on vocational and academic programmes from Level 1 to Level 3, helping them access learning and achieve success.
* Individualised Learning Implementation – Works under the direction of the ALS Team Leader and class teacher to apply strategies from students’ support plans and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
* Independence & Resource Development – Promotes student independence, prepares and updates learning resources, and contributes to progress monitoring and learner reports.
* Team Collaboration & Mentoring – Actively engages in team meetings, supports new staff through mentoring, and contributes to college events such as open days and transition activities
* Safeguarding & Professional Standards – Upholds safeguarding, equality, health & safety policies, and participates in ongoing training and development in line with college values and procedures.
About You
* Qualifications & Knowledge – Educated to Level 2 in Maths and English, with a relevant Level 3 qualification or willingness to work towards, and a working knowledge of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
* Experience & Technical Skills – Experience supporting young people with SEND in educational or care settings, and confident using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
* Student-Centred Approach – Committed to delivering a high-quality, inclusive learning experience, promoting student wellbeing, and maintaining a welcoming and supportive environment.
* Professionalism & Teamwork – Demonstrates strong communication, record-keeping, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and contribute positively to team dynamics.
* Safeguarding & Flexibility – Maintains appropriate professional boundaries, upholds safeguarding responsibilities, and is adaptable with a willingness to work across all college sites.
