Job Opportunity: Accounts Assistant
Hays is seeking an ambitious Accounts Assistant to join a growing engineering business based in Stockport. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the Purchase Ledger for three separate entities. Reporting directly to the Finance Director/Controller, we are looking for motivated individuals eager to develop their careers in finance.
Key Tasks:
1. Managing the purchase ledger for three companies.
2. Processing purchase invoices, obtaining authorisation, reconciling supplier statements, and promoting payments.
3. Uploading invoices and maintaining the invoice discounting portal, including reconciliations and liaising with the provider.
4. Bookkeeping, including company bank account postings.
5. Dealing with supplier queries.
6. Answering the finance office phone and handling calls related to purchase/sales ledger, company credit cards, and miscellaneous inquiries.
Skills Required:
1. Proficiency in Sage 50
2. Excel skills (including VLOOKUP, Pivots, etc.)
3. Experience with Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger
4. Knowledge of Xero software is preferred but not essential
