Due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Financial Controller to join us at AHEAD UK. This role will be reporting to and working closely with the Financial Controller, taking primary responsibility for supporting the Irish finance function with potential involvement in additional EU entities as the business expands. This is a hands-on role focused on strong financial control, accurate reporting, and regulatory compliance within a growing international group. The ideal candidate is detailed orientated, excels in collaborative and productive team environment.
Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Control
2. Support monthly management accounts and month-end close (accruals, prepayments, depreciation, journals)
3. Review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
4. Assist with variance analysis and group reporting
5. Contribute to weekly and monthly cash flow reporting
6. Compliance & Statutory
7. Maintain strong internal financial controls
8. Prepare and submit Irish VAT returns
9. Review Intrastat and VIES reporting
10. Support year-end audit and statutory reporting
11. Assist with corporation tax and other regulatory requirements
12. Operational Finance
13. Partner with Sales and Logistics to ensure timely, accurate invoicing
14. Review and approve sales invoices, raised by the Finance Assistant.
15. Oversee aged debtor and creditor reconciliations and support credit control
16. Approve lower-value purchase orders
17. Provide cover for the Finance Assistant when required
18. Planning & Process
19. Support budgeting and forecasting processes
20. Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and systems
21. Provide support to UK finance and potential future EU entities as required
Required Qualifications & Experience
22. Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA)
23. Strong experience supporting an Irish entity, with knowledge of Irish accounting and compliance requirements
24. Experience preparing Irish VAT returns
25. Working knowledge of EU VAT rules and cross-border reporting
26. Experience supporting month-end and management reporting
27. Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
28. Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively
29. Experience in a multi-entity or international environment
30. Exposure to wider EU finance operations
31. Experience with Xero and/or NetSuite
32. Experience with Salesforce
33. Exposure to US group reporting
£65,000 - £85,000 a yearThe compensation range indicated in this posting reflects the On-Target Earnings (“OTE”) for this role, which includes a base salary and any applicable target bonus amount.
