Quality Inspector – Bath
Location: Bath
Contract type: Permanent.
We are seeking an experienced APQP Quality Inspector with an engineering background to work a 3‑shift rotation. The role involves central and goods inwards inspection activities, product and process audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities – Quality Inspector
* Carry out inspection of First‑off items and supplied goods using manual gauging, CMM and surface testing equipment.
* Perform in‑process inspection audits and provide constructive feedback to machine shop and assembly staff.
* Monitor the condition of inspection gauging and ensure calibration in line with the schedule.
* Liaise with Manufacturing Engineering during process development to capture inspection requirements early.
* Utilise MSA and SPC to drive ongoing process improvements.
* Provide training on inspection processes and equipment as needed.
* Support Engineering with new product and new process introductions.
* Implement and maintain systems and procedures to ensure compliance with AS EN 9100, ISO 9001, PED directive and any project‑specific quality requirements.
* Undertake additional duties as required by the company.
* Review final and stage drawings prior to release into production.
* Identify areas for continuous improvement.
* Maintain accurate documentation to aid product traceability.
Qualifications & Requirements – Quality Inspector
* Knowledge of ISO 9001:2008 (AS 9100:2009 preferred).
* Extensive knowledge of metrology processes and experience with CMM systems (VDMIS, Camio).
* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, including geometric tolerancing.
* Experience working in a multi‑project, fast‑paced environment.
* Computer literacy with MS Excel, MS Word and MS Project.
* Strong communication skills at all levels.
* Eligibility for a UK SC clearance.
* Desirable experience with industrial MRP, MRP‑II or ERP tools (e.g., Syteline).
