Teaching Assistant – SEN Support – Secondary School in Bolton
Milk Education is more than a supply partner – we’re a community for educators. We’re currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant – SEN Support to join a welcoming and inclusive Secondary School in Bolton on a long-term basis starting either ASAP or in September.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them achieve their full potential. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with students, teachers, pastoral teams and the SEND department to provide tailored support that helps students engage with learning, develop confidence and thrive within a supportive secondary school environment.
You’ll support students with a range of additional needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties and learning disabilities, helping to remove barriers to learning and promote positive outcomes both academically and emotionally.
What you’ll be doing:
• Supporting students with Special Educational Needs in lessons to help them remain focused, engaged and confident in their learning
• Providing one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual learning and emotional needs
• Assisting teachers and SEND staff with classroom activities, differentiated resources and behaviour support strategies
• Helping students develop independence, social skills, organisation and positive learning behaviours
• Encouraging participation, confidence and emotional wellbeing both inside and outside the classroom
• Supporting students with communication, sensory and emotional regulation needs
• Building positive and professional relationships with students, staff and parents/carers
• Supporting students with EHCPs and implementing strategies outlined within support plans
• Promoting an inclusive learning environment where every student feels supported and able to achieve
The ideal candidate will have:
• Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN, secondary school or educational setting
• Previous experience supporting students with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or additional learning needs is highly desirable
• A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A patient, calm and adaptable approach
• Confidence supporting a range of learning abilities, behavioural needs and communication styles
• An understanding of safeguarding, SEND and behaviour management strategies is desirable
• Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, health & social care or youth work are beneficial but not essential
