UDS Freight is part of the UDS Group of companies which includes UDS Warehousing and UDS Clearances. Between our group of companies, our aim is to provide our customers with a complete end to end supply chain logistics solution. Our loyal and established customer base has allowed our business to evolve rapidly over the last 3 years and we're now seeking the right candidate to join us on our growth journey.
We have a really exciting role available that would be suitable for an experienced transport planner seeking their next career move or an already established operations manager looking for their next move. Responsibilities
* Understand all aspects and operations of the UDS Freight business.
* Be comfortable with UK/Ireland transport planning for full load and groupage operations.
* Implement process improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness and reduce costs.
* Oversee the use of transportation management systems (TMS) to optimize routes and shipping schedules.
* Manage truck, trailer and rigid vehicle servicing and maintenance schedules.
* Over time, the successful candidate will be coached in full P&L responsibility for the UDS Freight business unit.
* Understand the peaks and troughs of customer demand cycles throughout the calendar year and put resources in place to manage demand effectively.
* Engage with our Finance Team around budgets and targets at group levels.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement through training and development of your staff but also in yourself with company funded training programmes for you.
Experience
* Proven experience in UK/Ireland transport planning in a commercial road transport environment
* Transport Managers CPC would be desirable but not essential
* Knowledge of drivers hours and working time regulations is essential
* Knowledge of fleet management practices including service intervals and safety inspections
* Previous experience with digital transport management systems, tracking systems and integrated warehouse management systems
* Attitude- a drive to constantly deliver an outstanding level of service to our customers
* A 'can-do' attitude to challenges and customer demands and requests.
