Senior Electrical Engineer (HV Cable Design) – Join Our Dynamic Transmission & Distribution Team

Following on from a number of exciting major project awards, our Transmission & Distribution division is expanding and we’re seeking an experienced HV Transmission Cables Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an integral part of our organization, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring reliable energy delivery for our clients, from underground interconnectors to offshore wind farms.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
* HVAC/HVDC Cable System Design: Dive into all aspects of transmission cable system design, from conceptualization to implementation for Onshore and Offshore projects
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration of HV cables into substations, converter stations, and grid networks
* Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analyses for transmission cable system projects
* Front End Engineering Design (FEED): Deliver innovative solutions for cable systems integration into major infrastructural development projects
* Consenting Stage Cable System design: Lead interface with civil and environmental teams to plan delivery in line with consenting requirements
* Tender Stage Design/Detail Design for Transmission cable systems, developing concept stage design through to construction detail level
* Troubleshoot and resolve transmission cable‑related issues during installation and operation/maintenance phases
* Stay abreast of technological advancements in HV cable materials, insulation, and transmission technologies
Candidate Specification
Essential
* Degree in Electrical Engineering
* Experienced transmission cable systems engineer
* Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex engineering problems relating to transmission power cable systems
* Willingness to engage with new challenges and ability to work confidently on familiar tasks
* Good written communication skills including report writing
* Excellent communication and people skills
Desirable
* Masters in Electrical Engineering
* Experience designing both onshore and offshore transmission cable systems
* Experience designing HV cable transmission systems for UK and Ireland utilities
* Experience designing HVAC and HVDC transmission cable systems
