Job summary
Are you passionate about supporting families in the early days of parenting? The St Helens Wellbeing Team are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Infant Feeding Supporter Worker to join our vibrant and friendly service. You will support parents with all aspects of infant feeding—from pregnancy through to introducing solid foods—working alongside our experienced team and valued partners. This role is ideal for someone who is organised, empathetic and motivated by making a difference to families’ lives.
Main duties of the role:
* Provide information, encouragement and support on infant feeding through 1-1 contact, phone support, home visits and group sessions.
* Be involved in borough-wide promotion of responsive and evidence-based infant feeding practices.
* Deliver sessions with emphasis on building trust and confidence; full training will be provided.
* Use IT systems and digital tools to help connect with local families.
* Work within the service hours and travel across the borough as required.
Working pattern
* Our service operates Monday to Friday, 8am–8pm. Weekends and Bank Holidays 10am–4pm. Shifts are allocated within these times; flexibility is essential.
* Ability to travel across the borough is required.

Qualifications
Essential
* Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent experience
* Diagnosis of Tongue Tie Training (or willingness to work towards)
Desirable
* Training in breastfeeding management (e.g. Peer Supporter, LLLGB or UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative courses)
Knowledge
Essential
* Understanding of partnership working (midwives, maternity units, etc)
Desirable
* Knowledge of Local Authority, Health and other relevant agencies and structures
* Knowledge of infant nutrition
Experience
Essential
* Experience of working within a team environment
* Experience of developing new practical health initiatives
* Experience of engaging and supporting individuals and groups
* Awareness of responsibility to report concerns to a midwife
* Ability to reinforce professional advice by supporting families in active parenting
Desirable
* Experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds
* Experience of giving information one-to-one or in a group setting
* Experience of Breastfeeding Peer Support work
* Experience of risk management
