Clinical Research Practitioner or Clinical Research Nurse
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual interested in clinical research to join our world-leading cystic fibrosis (CF) clinical trials team, located near King's Road in Chelsea.
You will work with Prof Jane Davies (https://www.imperial.ac.uk/people/j.c.davies), Prof Nick Simmonds (https://www.imperial.ac.uk/people/n.simmonds), and Clare Saunders (Research Service Lead); a team of dedicated clinicians, research nurses, and scientists conducting early and late-phase clinical trials to improve treatments for both adults and children with CF. This role offers excellent opportunities to develop expertise in CF research.
Main duties of the job
As a Clinical Research Practitioner/Nurse, you will contribute to high-quality early and late-phase research, working with patients from infants to adults with CF. Your responsibilities include collaborating with the clinical team and supporting a diverse portfolio of commercial and academic trials, assessing and managing patient care pathways, supporting patient recruitment, education, monitoring, and ensuring accurate data collection and documentation.
The team is part of the UK CF Trust Clinical Trials Accelerator Platform (CTAP; https://www.cysticfibrosis.org.uk/the-work-we-do/clinical-trials-accelerator-platform) and the European CF Society Clinical Trials Network (https://www.ecfs.eu/ctn), providing patients access to cutting-edge clinical trials.

Job responsibilities
This position involves working within the Imperial College/Royal Brompton CF clinical trials group, comprising clinicians, academics, allied health professionals, and administrative staff. The Brompton CF centers are leading teams conducting trials to improve treatments for CF in both adults and children. The role includes supporting global, multicenter interventional and observational studies led by Professors Davies, Simmonds, and colleagues. Your main tasks will include:
* Identifying and recruiting potential research participants, working closely with patients, families, and clinical teams.
* Providing compassionate support to study participants both in clinic and over the phone, addressing questions and concerns professionally and empathetically.
* Performing clinical assessments, including collecting and processing biological samples, prioritizing participant comfort and safety.
* Maintaining accurate, detailed records in compliance with policies and governance frameworks.
* Keeping current with CF and clinical research developments through training and conferences, with opportunities for personal interest areas.
* Contributing to research reports and publications to advance treatment and care evidence base.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in healthcare or science-related subject.
* Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
Experience
* Experience working directly with patients or study participants in a clinical setting.
* Proven ability in accurate data management.
* Consistent work and career pattern.
* Interest in clinical research.
* Relevant clinical research experience in pharmaceuticals, CROs, or academic units.
* Knowledge of Research Governance Framework (RGF), ICH/GCP guidelines.
* Experience working with children in a clinical setting is preferred.
