Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Ageing Complex Medicine Team in a permanent Consultant Geriatrician post at Salford Royal Hospital of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA). We are looking for a doctor who can provide expert geriatric care for older people in general and specialist medicine. Candidates with experience in Orthogeriatrics are especially encouraged to apply as we wish to develop this service.
The Division is undergoing a period of innovation and development. The successful candidate will join our innovative team of 16 Consultant Geriatricians and will have the opportunity to shape a future‑focused service.
Essential Requirements
* Full GMC registration with a CCT in Geriatric Medicine or the date of CCT within 6 months of appointment.
* MBBS or equivalent.
* CCT in Geriatric Medicine (or within 6 months of appointment).
* MRCP and MRCP Geriatric Medicine.
* Commitment to Geriatric Medicine.
* Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team.
* Ability to work and make patient‑management decisions on own initiative whilst seeking appropriate guidance when required.
* Teamworking ability with professional colleagues across medical and non‑medical disciplines.
* Evidence of leadership and teaching experience.
Desirable Information
* Postgraduate degree (e.g. MSc, MD, PhD).
* Evidence of accredited clinical and educational supervision of medical learners.
* Experience of Geriatric Medicine within the NHS.
* Research interests or other CCT specialities (e.g. stroke) that can be incorporated into job plans.
Person Specification
* Geriatric Medicine experience.
* Commitment to the specialty.
* Communication and liaison skills as described above.
* Independent decision‑making with prudent consultation.
* Teamworking, leadership and teaching demonstrated.
Additional Requirements
* Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 disclosure and barring service check required.
