Behaviour Support Assistant – Secondary School – Stockport

Pay: £89 – £95 per day

A busy and vibrant secondary school in Stockport requires a proactive Behaviour Support Assistant to help maintain a positive learning environment and support pupils with behavioural needs. You will work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams to implement strategies that encourage positive behaviour and improve pupil engagement.
Responsibilities:
* Supporting pupils who exhibit challenging behaviour in classrooms and around school
* Assisting in the development and delivery of individual behaviour plans and strategies
* Supervising pupils during lessons, breaks, and detention periods to reinforce positive conduct
* Liaising with teachers and pastoral staff to monitor pupil behaviour and progress
* Encouraging pupils to develop self-regulation, conflict resolution, and social skills
* Recording behaviour incidents and contributing to reports for parents and leadership teams
* Participating in training sessions on behaviour management, safeguarding, and restorative practices
Candidate Profile:
* Previous experience supporting behaviour management in schools or similar settings
* Strong communication, patience, and resilience in dealing with challenging situations
* Ability to remain calm and consistent under pressure
* Positive, solution-focused attitude with a desire to help pupils improve
* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles
* Flexibility to support across different lessons and year groups

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
