First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Senior Radar Analyst on behalf of one of our clients.
Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To provide analysis of radar and radar related systems.
2. To produce new radar system design concepts.
3. To develop models of current and future radar systems to enable design / performance parameters to be established.
4. To provide technical assistance to other areas of research and development.
5. Develop mathematical models of radar and radar sub-systems using appropriate tools: MATLAB, Simulink, and Mathcad.
6. Provide design data for hardware and software developers.
7. Assist in the validation of developed hardware and software.
8. Produce / assist in the production of detailed specifications to enable equipment to be developed.
9. Conduct detailed analysis of radar performance, including on occasion, trials data and produce reports for internal and external customers.
10. Design and develop digital signal processing algorithms.
11. Liaise with sub-system suppliers to ensure performance criteria are met.
12. Play a leading role in the development of new radar systems.
13. Prepare and present technical papers to customers and external organisations.
14. Travel within the UK and overseas is required and is considered a regular feature of this role. Requests could be made at short notice.
15. Any other tasks associated with this role.
Skills and Qualifications:
16. A Masters or Bachelor’s degree.
17. Experience with MATLAB and digital signal processing.
18. Working knowledge of Radar or closely related applications (e.g. Sonar, Image Processing, Comms).
19. Proven record of completing analysis and design tasks on time and within budget.
20. Self-motivated and enjoys working within a team.
21. Good command of written and verbal English.
Desirable:
22. Knowledge of the following:
23. Pulse compression, doppler filtering, CFAR and detection.
24. Radar video or image processing, plot extraction and tracking.
25. Phased array radar.
26. Embedded software, Linux or FPGA.
27. RF, antenna or radar electronics.
28. Systems engineering or project management R&D background (e.g., papers/patents, time spent in academia).
29. Comfortable with hardware test and debug using lab equipment.
30. Experience of source control and issue tracking tools (e.g., git / JIRA).
31. Other commonly used programming languages, e.g. Python, C/C++.
