Trainee Teaching Assistant – Newport

Vision for Education is offering an excellent opportunity for a Trainee Teaching Assistant to join schools across the Newport area. This role provides hands-on experience in alternative provision and SEN settings, working with pupils who may face challenges linked to social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH), ADHD, anxiety, or additional learning needs (ALN).

What You’ll Be Doing
Supporting pupils in classroom groups as well as providing one-to-one interventions
Helping pupils manage their emotions and encouraging positive behaviour
Creating an inclusive, calm, and safe learning environment where every pupil feels valued
Assisting in delivering personalised strategies to promote wellbeing, confidence, and academic success
Building strong, supportive relationships with pupils, teachers, and families
Encouraging communication, emotional literacy, and social skills development
What We’re Looking For
A genuine interest in supporting children and young people who need extra help
Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils
A positive and proactive mindset, determined to make a lasting impact
Good communication skills and a collaborative approach within a team
Commitment to developing a career in SEND, inclusion, or alternative provision
Availability Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm (term-time only)
Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willingness to register
