Overview
The Alzheimer’s Society UKDTN Lead Clinical Research Nurse has a key leadership and management role at a senior level within Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH). The post leads the delivery and growth of early phase dementia clinical trials across Greater Manchester in partnership with the GMMH Clinical Research Delivery Manager, the UK Dementia Trials Network (UKDTN) Principal Investigator, and funded staff within UKDTN and Alzheimer’s Society.
Key responsibilities include liaising with clinical investigators and sponsors (commercial and non-commercial) to oversee the management and delivery of early phase dementia trial protocols, ensuring patient well-being and governance compliance with research legislation and Trust policies. The post holder will directly manage and support patients participating in early phase dementia clinical trials.
Work closely with the R&I Trial Manager to facilitate development, implementation, setup and progress of early phase dementia clinical research studies, ensuring studies are conducted in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the Research Governance Framework / UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research. The post holder should have extensive knowledge of GMMH’s strategic objectives, the local R&D landscape, and research guidelines (e.g., Good Clinical Practice, Research Governance, EU Clinical Trials Directives).
The role includes leading the development and execution of relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and, where required, the development of research protocols. It also involves ensuring all study documentation is produced to accurately record research activity and to raise concerns about incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading documentation.

Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery and growth of early phase dementia clinical trials across Greater Manchester.
* Collaborate with the UKDTN and GMMH staff to develop study setup, implementation and progress.
* Oversee management of early phase dementia trial protocols and ensure patient safety and governance compliance.
* Directly manage and support patients participating in early phase dementia trials.
* Work with the R&I Trial Manager to ensure studies follow GCP and UK health research frameworks.
* Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and research protocols as required.
* Ensure study documentation is accurate and raises concerns about any discrepancies.
* Bring knowledge of GMMH strategic objectives and research guidelines to bear on trial activities.
Qualifications / Experience
* Extensive knowledge of GMMH strategic objectives and the local R&D landscape.
* Understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Research Governance, and EU Clinical Trials Directives.
* Experience in leading clinical research initiatives and managing trial delivery teams.
* Ability to liaise with clinical investigators, sponsors, and research staff to facilitate trial progress.
