Vickerstock are proudly partnering with a long-established heavy manufacturing leader who are seeking an experienced Materials Planner to join their high-performing supply chain function. This is a key role with genuine influence, suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, engineering-led environment. The Role Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will take full ownership of material availability across a complex production schedule. You will work closely with Operations, Engineering, and Procurement to ensure the right materials are on-site and on-time to support high-volume, high-precision manufacturing. You will be the link between supplier performance and production outputanticipating issues before they arise and driving continuous improvement across planning processes. Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and optimise material planning schedules aligned with production requirements. Manage inventory levels, ensuring appropriate balance between stock availability and cost control. Work closely with suppliers to track delivery performance and mitigate risks. Analyse demand fluctuations and adjust planning strategies proactively. Support new product introductions through robust materials coordination. Drive improvements across planning systems, reporting, and forecasting accuracy. Manage a portfolio of suppliers and implement performance improvement plans when necessary. Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve constraints and keep production flowing smoothly. What Youll Bring 2 years experience in a material planning, production planning, or supply chain role within heavy manufacturing, engineering, automotive, aerospace, or similar. Strong analytical capability with excellent attention to detail. Confidence working in a structured planning environment (ERP/MRP experience essential). A proactive mindsetsomeone who enjoys taking ownership and staying ahead of potential issues. Strong communication skills with the ability to build constructive supplier relationships.
