Conventional Safety Lead - Bridgwater, UKAbout the RoleReady to lead Client‑side safety governance on one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects?At EDF, Success is Personal – and with us, your career journey is yours to shape. Your expertise will assure compliance with CDM 2015, strengthen our Integrated Management System, and set the standard for safety across our delivery partners.The OpportunityAs our Conventional Safety Lead, you’ll act on behalf of the Client to ensure all activities at Hinkley Point C (the UK’s first nuclear new build in a generation) are conducted in line with our Zero Harm ambition. You’ll provide governance and assurance, not day‑to‑day site supervision, working within the Safety & Regulation Directorate (Health, Safety and Learning) to discharge the Client’s duties under CDM 2015.You’ll join us on a salary of £65,000+ per annum, with the potential for an annual bonus. This is a hybrid role with flexible working arrangements.What You’ll Be DoingAssuring compliance with CDM 2015 in relation to the Client’s responsibilitiesMaintaining and improving health and safety management systems and standards within the Integrated Management SystemInterfacing with external certification bodies and regulators and reporting at Client governance forumsLeading audits, reviews and assessments to identify best practice and address gapsEnsuring accurate classification and recording of events in line with LC7, driving proportionate corrective actions through delivery teamsSupporting contractor evaluations and scoring submissionsManaging office OSH arrangements (DSE process, first aid needs, risk assessments) across NNB Client offices and supporting the Wellbeing StrategyWho You AreWe’re looking for a Client‑side CDM practitioner with a governance mindset who thrives in complex, high‑risk environments. Do you offer…10+ years’ industrial experience in fast‑paced project settingsProven experience in major infrastructure or energy projectsExpert practical application of CDM 2015 in an operational settingStrong skills in analysing safety data and identifying trendsExperience leading audits and assurance activitiesConfidence in presenting insights to senior stakeholdersExpertise in maintaining integrated management systemsExperience supporting contractor evaluations and engagementA strong foundation in occupational health and safety, holding a NEBOSH Diploma and membership with IOSH or EIT, ideally working towards ChartershipTo be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will ordinarily require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.Pay, Benefits and CultureAlongside a salary of £65,000+ per annum, potential for an annual bonus, and a market‑leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.At EDF, we believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed.
