Day in the life of a Qualified Surveyor
As a technical specialist, you will play a key role in the operational delivery and compliance assurance of gas, heating, and communal heat network systems across our property portfolio.
Reporting to the Building Compliance Manager – Gas and Heating, you will:
* Ensure gas, heating, and heat network systems are safe, efficient, and compliant with all statutory and regulatory requirements
* Plan, conduct, and quality assure statutory inspections, surveys, and remedial works
* Oversee gas, central heating, and associated plant, including communal heat networks
* Provide expert technical advice and guidance to internal teams and contractors
* Maintain accurate, audit‑ready compliance records
* Identify, manage, and elevate safety or compliance risks appropriately
What we are looking for
* Substantial hands‑on experience conducting and overseeing gas and heating inspections across a variety of property types, including high‑risk residential buildings and heat network systems
* In‑depth knowledge of:
o Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998
o Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000
o Heat Network (Metering and Billing) Regulations
o Relevant building and landlord legislation
* Familiarity with non‑gas and low‑carbon heating systems, communal heating, and heat networks within a social housing environment
* Recognised technical qualifications in gas engineering, mechanical engineering, building services or surveying (e.g. HNC/HND, BEng/BSc, Gas Safe registration)
* Experience working within regulated or high‑compliance environments
* Experience supporting internal and external audits and regulatory inspections
* Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development in gas and heating compliance
